How To Quit Your Job and Survive

9 to 5 grinds you...? its time to change

If you hate your job, someone obviously points out - so why are you there?

Its not as simple as that for most. For one thing, the bills need to be paid so taking the leap by jumping ship and ditching a solid, even if low, income from a salary can be too daunting a thought. Not to mention, silly, if no other income exists. So, many stick with their hated job and deal with their controlling bosses for life...

It really depends on how it affects you. If the job is leading somewhere in your career, then it makes sense to stick the job until it gives you a return on your hard earned work. But if the job means nothing, and you are only there for the bills, then perhaps another way should be sought if you are feeling more and more down with life each day.

So many people are unhappy with their working lives and generally feeling no zest for life when each morning the alarm goes off reminding them that its time to head to that life sucking role where nothing is of interest.

If that is where you are then read on as you could be using your spare time to develop an income. This initial supplementary income will become a full time job replacing salary.

So,

Quit My Job?? Then what....

Lets look at some ways to create a job in effect.

Imagine that, create your own job.

It can be done though you need to firstly write down your skills. What do you enjoy doing, what skill can you offer to the world or even just your community?

Establish that, and browse around Google for profiles of freelancers who are setting up sites or have been actively freelancing for years. Google for example, if contacting photoshop artists:

site:.com "I am a" "photoshop artist"

Lots will have blogs up and running, and actively interacting with their audience. One key reason, freelancers survive is not so much as they are good at their job but more that they know how to market themselves online.

Chat on facebook and twitter with some self employed people who are earning a living doing what your top skill covers.

It can also be an online business. You do not have to be selling a service or even your own product.

So some ways to earn online:

Affiliate Marketing - selling other merchant's products using a blog and social media

Freelance Writing - usually the first choice for new freelancers as its quite easy to get into. Here is a hub on lots of jobs available How To Get Freelance Writing Jobs

Your eStore - Find a niche product, maybe little competition, create your own product range and sell through your own ecommerce store.

Buy a Franchise - franchises can cost anything from a few hundred to thousands of dollars or pounds. Choose wisely and research the business as mentioned above if you go this way.

Buy a high traffic business from Flippa - flippa.com has a lot of web sites for sale. Beware of scams and thoroughly research the site and the seller background.

Investment - If you are lucky enough to have a nice wedge of collateral at your disposal, perhaps partnering as an investor in a current business model already profiting can work. A friend of mine did this after several years of hard slog at an unrewarding assistant director role (yes, even at that level, its not just entry level workers...). After slaving hours for his boss, he saved thousands and approached an electricals vendor, and now has as passive income of about 50k a year... passive.

Another colleague of mine set up a Google Adwords campaign targeting a very niche service for students needing revision notes. The adwords campaign while expensive to run creates a healthy monthly profit that alone beats his day job...

Its about risk and skill, but is not a case of having to spend money to make money. I started with nothing unlike my colleagues above. I left my job for the uncertain world of freelancing, no clients, no savings.... though it was very tough. But for the sake of my mental health and euphoria, and happiness, it was ABSOLUTELY necessary...

More methods are around. If you plan to sell services, then try a number of sites like peopleperhour.com, guru.com, odesk.com, and gumtree.

Which ever way you go, a web site is recommended. Many do get away with marketing purely from a facebook fan page or a free blog as on tumblr. That is ok, but its better to own your domain and build your own server space for your business.

This article was quite informative and the topic got my attention. I would like to add that passive income such as online writing can be supplemented with income from selling on ebay.com or amazon.com. From my experience, selling products that you mentioned as one of the choices to make money if one has to quit is more lucrataive than writing online for pay. You did a great job with the links and the affiliate selling on this article as well.
